Rebecca Walkowitz
Dean of Humanities
Rebecca L. Walkowitz is Distinguished Professor in the English Department and an affiliate faculty member in the Comparative Literature Program. She specializes in the study of global modernism, contemporary Anglophone and multilingual fiction, world literature, and translation studies. In 2020, she received the Board of Trustees Award for Excellence in Research. At Rutgers since 2007, she has served as Chair and Director of Graduate Studies in English and also founded and led a multidisciplinary initiative in Modernism and Globalization.
As Dean of the Division of Humanities, she works with department chairs in the Humanities and the Executive Dean to assist with hiring and promotion of faculty, maintain oversight of undergraduate and graduate instruction within departments and programs, and work with faculty and chairs to promote professional and departmental development. She also participates in the strategic planning and decision-making process of the School of Arts and Sciences providing recommendations and assistance to the Executive Dean.
