SAS EOF 2020 Scholar

Jennifer Calderon
Major: Economics & Human Resource Management
Hometown: North Bergen, NJ
Favorite Rutgers Moment: EOF Summer Institute
Dream/Goal: To work at a fortune 500 company and use my success to give back to my community in any way possible.
What does it mean to be a Scholar?: Being an EOF scholar has been a fruitful experience. As a first generation student, I came to Rutgers not knowing what to expect. At the beginning of our EOF summer program they constantly would tell us that we were all going to become a \\\"family\\\" for the next four years. At the beginning I wasn't so sure about that, but now as I find myself a month away from the finish line I can say they were right and I was wrong. Looking back at my college career, I can't imagine accomplishing as much as I have without the support, love, and guidance of my EOF family, especially my counselor. EOF has provided me with resources that have helped me become the best version of myself. This program introduced me to an amazing and supportive group of individuals that have become some of my closest friends. EOF has made such a profound impact in my life and for that, I am forever grateful.

2020 red blackThe Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program was created, through New Jersey Legislation, in 1968 to provide academic support and financial access to New Jersey residents to attend college. EOF students qualify for the Program on the basis of academic and financial need. The SAS EOF Program is the largest in New Jersey, serving over 1300 EOF Scholars in the School of Arts and Sciences, Rutgers Business School, Mason Gross School of the Arts, the School of Management and Labor Relations, and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. It is the mission of the Rutgers SAS EOF Program to create an environment, which encourages academic excellence, and introduces students (through educational events, programs, and workshops) to all of the resources and enrichment opportunities that are available to them as EOF Scholars at Rutgers University.
