What does it mean to be a Scholar?: Being an EOF Scholar is a reminder. A reminder to not forget where you come from. A reminder that your dreams are possible. A reminder you deserve to be here without question. A reminder not to allow our short time here to go in vain for those who've sacrificed for us. Being an EOF Scholar means you're apart of a family. One that is unconditional, caring, and genuinely supportive of one's professional and academic goals. As a first-generation student with very little knowledge of how to navigate the waters of the university, my EOF counselor, Mrs. Jubilee, was always there to relieve any pressure and take over the helm when needed. EOF will teach you the tools to be successful. Still, most importantly, one must be ready to embrace the assistance and resources available, which will make all the difference when graduating. My Rutgers experience would have never been the same if it wasn't for being an EOF Scholar.

2020 red blackThe Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program was created, through New Jersey Legislation, in 1968 to provide academic support and financial access to New Jersey residents to attend college. EOF students qualify for the Program on the basis of academic and financial need. The SAS EOF Program is the largest in New Jersey, serving over 1300 EOF Scholars in the School of Arts and Sciences, Rutgers Business School, Mason Gross School of the Arts, the School of Management and Labor Relations, and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. It is the mission of the Rutgers SAS EOF Program to create an environment, which encourages academic excellence, and introduces students (through educational events, programs, and workshops) to all of the resources and enrichment opportunities that are available to them as EOF Scholars at Rutgers University.
