SAS EOF 2020 Scholar

Gabrielle Pignatelli
Major: Psychology
Minor: Education
Hometown: Somers Point, NJ
Favorite Rutgers Moment: My favorite Rutgers moment involved studying abroad in Rome, Italy to work with women who were victims of gender-based violence and sex trafficking. Working with these women was a beyond rewarding experience that I will never be able to put into words! Thank you Rutgers!
Dream/Goal: My dream goal is to become a licensed School Psychologist and Board Certified Behavioral Analyst in order to continue working with vulnerable populations.
What does it mean to be a Scholar?: As any EOF scholar may say, being a first-generation student is beyond intimidating. Transitioning into the Rutgers community was difficult to say the least, however, the resources provided by EOF made this transition seem almost natural. It is comforting to know that many of my peers come from similar backgrounds, yet we all chose to seek out higher education and we have the ability to give back to our families one day. I have had a strong support system from the very first day of EOF summer session and I am glad to still have these friends today! My counselor has done nothing but encourage me to keep pursuing my goals and has ultimately motivated me to seek out a career in school psychology. I will be continuing my studies at the Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology as a candidate for my PsyD in School Psychology and I would not have come this far if it were not for the support of my EOF family. After these four years, I truly consider Rutgers my home and I am glad EOF has shaped my experience in such a remarkable way.

2020 red blackThe Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program was created, through New Jersey Legislation, in 1968 to provide academic support and financial access to New Jersey residents to attend college. EOF students qualify for the Program on the basis of academic and financial need. The SAS EOF Program is the largest in New Jersey, serving over 1300 EOF Scholars in the School of Arts and Sciences, Rutgers Business School, Mason Gross School of the Arts, the School of Management and Labor Relations, and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. It is the mission of the Rutgers SAS EOF Program to create an environment, which encourages academic excellence, and introduces students (through educational events, programs, and workshops) to all of the resources and enrichment opportunities that are available to them as EOF Scholars at Rutgers University.
