The SAS Dean's Office is pleased to announce that funds are available to support entrepreneurial activities of tenured and tenure-track faculty.
Supported by $750,000 over three years from the Office of the President as part of a universitywide initiative to expand revenue-generating academic programs, SAS seed grants of up to $75,000 for a maximum of 2 years will be provided for strategic development of enterprises to create new income streams by showcasing our scholarship and providing novel educational services to the community.
SAS encourages applications to develop innovative masters degree programs, web-based learning environments, major community events, and lifetime learning opportunities, in addition to other revenue-generating enterprises that highlight the academic excellence of Rutgers University.
To maximize the effectiveness of the seed grants, we will also provide administrative support to ensure that contributing faculty are able to spend their time on creativity, development, and delivery. This service will be coordinated by a high level Administrative Director who will guide faculty to existing university resources while providing advice and expertise to help bring your initiatives from concept to implementation.
Application materials for seed grants have been sent out to all faculty. They consist of two separate files:
1. Application instructions that outline the information required.
2. A budget template to itemize anticipated expenses and revenue.
Applicants should take note of the word count guidelines on the written form. Completed applications should be submitted electronically to your department chair (MS Word and Excel or Adobe PDF) by 5:00 pm, Friday, November 12, 2010.
