Message From the Dean: A Note of Thanks in a Time of Crisis

"Your commitment to students is inspiring"–  Peter March

q and a with dean

Dear Colleagues,

I want to thank faculty and staff for the heroic work that has enabled the School of Arts and Sciences to continue bringing a liberal arts education to students during a time of national emergency.

Despite a health crisis that has upended our lives, you have worked tirelessly mastering new technologies, adapting or creating new syllabi, and maintaining our School’s reputation as the center of undergraduate education at Rutgers.

We know we are going to face more challenges in the coming weeks as we adapt to our virtual reality, and we will try to anticipate your needs and meet them as best we can.

I know everybody has had so much to do during this first week of launching our new teaching environment.

Your commitment to students is inspiring.

Congratulations to all for doing such a magnificent job on very short notice.

Continue to watch for official announcements from university leadership in the coming days and weeks and know that in the Dean’s Office we are focused on providing the support you and our students need.

And follow stories highlighting the resilience, innovation, and dedication you and your colleagues are demonstrating across the School in our SAS News Digest where you will meet faculty, students, and staff who are building and strengthening our community from afar for today and for the future.

Thank you!
