Strategic Plan
School of Arts and Sciences Adopts Strategic Plan
The Committee on the Future of the School of Arts and Sciences articulates a new vision for the School.
During the 2009-2010 academic year, Executive Dean Douglas Greenberg convened a Committee on the Future of the School of Arts and Sciences. The committee worked diligently throughout the year and produced a draft strategic plan for the School that was then shared with the faculty for comments and suggestions. Many of those comments and suggestions have been incorporated in the final version of the Strategic Plan, which has two parts: a statement of SAS's Values, Vision, Mission, and Strategic Goals and a document outlining the tactical steps that will be undertaken in association with each of the five strategic goals. The members of the committee, whose names are listed in a third document, did their work with great care and intelligence and are owed a deep debt of gratitude by everyone associated with the School of Arts and Sciences. In addition, the Dean's Advisory Council, composed of a distinguished group of alumni, offered thoughtful advice as the process began, and they continued to support the effort and improve it over the course of the year. They too have the thanks of the School of Arts and Sciences for their good counsel and dedication.
