- Dean for Educational Initiatives and the Core Curriculum
Susan Lawrence, Professor of Political Science, studies U.S. Supreme Court decision-making and doctrinal development processes as they relate to the counter-majoritarian complaint. Her current work focuses on the shifting contours of the boundary between public and private and the Court's evolving understanding of "family" as a separate sphere of sovereignty. As Dean for Educational Initiatives and the Core Curriculum, she is responsible for the development and implementation of the SAS Core Curriculum; broad educational initiatives such as the SAS Signature Courses; and assessment of undergraduate education mission goals. She supports undergraduate education in SAS departments and is liaison to other units within the University serving SAS students.
