My daughter Nia is my entire inspiration and without her I would not be the woman that I am today.
I found out I was pregnant after fainting at my job at the Douglass Student Center café. I was only in my second year at Rutgers and was terrified that I would not finish school on time. But I refused to view my pregnancy as a downfall. I embraced my child and made it my duty to finish school. This was not easy. If it wasn't for my family, my boyfriend, and my boyfriend's family, I simply would not have been able to do it all. Their support has kept me on track. Now here I am two years later, graduating on time with a nearly 2-year-old daughter!
My daughter Nia is my entire inspiration and without her I would not be the woman that I am today. After graduation, I will be joining Teach for America as a corps member in Newark. I hope my daughter will grow up and consider me her role model because everything I am is due to her. I am truly thankful that she chose me to be her mom. She is my greatest creation. She is my inspirational drive because I know that I cannot let her down. So any time I am facing a difficult task, I think of her and I continue to push harder.
