The arts and sciences are the FOUNDATION of all great research universities.
At Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, the School of Arts and Sciences is this foundation, fostering dialogue across disciplines, engagement with local and global communities, and innovation in education and research.
Support for SAS enhances Rutgers' ability to maintain excellence and innovate, and it helps to ensure that the intellectual core of the university remains strong.
We invite you to make a gift and make a difference to SAS students and faculty by supporting one of the following dedicated annual funds:
- SAS Academic Excellence Fund
Supports undergraduate, graduate and faculty initiatives that promote academic excellence across the departments, programs, centers, and institutes that comprise SAS. Gifts are used for student and faculty research support as well as on-campus conferences, workshops, and lectures that are often open to the public.
- SAS Scholarship Fund
Enables SAS to provide access to quality higher education to talented, deserving students regardless of their financial backgrounds. Gifts provide tuition support for deserving students with demonstrated financial need.
- SAS Dean's Emergency Fund
Provides fallback assistance to undergraduate students who have exhausted all other avenues of support including financial aid, unsubsidized loans, and private alternative loans. Gifts support students who need help with relatively small education-related expenses such as portions of term-bill payments, books, fees, and on-campus housing.
- Academic Excellence Funds for specific Arts and Sciences Departments, Programs, Centers, and Institutes
Facilitate initiatives that promote excellence in specific fields and disciplines. SAS comprises nearly 100 departments and degree-grant programs, other instructional programs, and research programs, centers, and institutes encompassing the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, life sciences, and math and physical sciences. Gifts to an academic excellence fund support key needs identified for each area, which often include library acquisitions, student conference travel, seed funding for research, and seminars.
