Faculty and Research
Our remarkable faculty inspire and engage our students, as well as conduct groundbreaking research. An endowed chair supports a scholar’s work and helps attract more research funding, outstanding junior faculty, and top-notch students.
Rutgers can attract top scholar/teachers and retain outstanding faculty with endowed chairs when they are sought by competing institutions. Endowed chairs reward world-class faculty for their knowledge and insights and ensure permanent support of a core discipline.
A gift of $3 million will establish an endowed chair in the field of the donor's choosing.
Endowed Termed Professorships
Rutgers can recruit the very best assistant professors with endowed termed professorships. These professorships attract talented, early career scholar/teachers who are at the forefront of their professions. Termed professorships provide salary and research support, enabling these early career faculty to develop new courses and pursue research that advances the boundaries of their disciplines.
A gift of $3 million will establish an endowed termed professorship in the field of the donor's choosing.
Funds designated for faculty research address a range of needs including: support for travel to archives or field sites, research assistants, equipment and maintenance of research laboratories, seed funding for early career researchers, translation services, and other activities in support of scholarly work. Dedicated research funds help to fill in gaps from government and foundation grants and are especially valuable for fields in which this type of research support is uncommon.
Gifts up to $500,000 will support the ongoing research needs in a field of the donor's choosing. A gift of $500,000 will endow a faculty research fund in the humanities. A gift of $1 million will endow a faculty research fund in the sciences.
