The Office of Disability Services provides student-centered and student-inclusive programming in compliance with the ADA and Section 504. All accommodations for students will be handled out of that office.
Here is a brief summary what faculty members need to know:
- If a student requests accommodation for a disability or chronic illness but does not have an "accommodation letter," refer them to the Office of Disability Services. Students may not know that accommodations are available to them, so you might want to tell them about the office in your syllabus, or on a one-on-one basis as necessary.
- If a student presents a letter requesting accommodations (such as note-taking or more time on exams), you should talk to the Office of Disability Services to have them arrange the resources for the accommodation (note-takers, exam proctors, etc.).
